NetTrace makes DNS and email diagnostics fast, honest and accessible to everyone.
What we do
NetTrace is a free set of diagnostic tools for anyone working with domains and email: administrators, developers, hosting companies and the curious. In seconds you see how the world sees your domain, whether your email is properly secured and whether your mail server is blacklisted.
DNS checker
Every record at 84 public resolvers at once, with each answer, status and response time.
Mail checker
SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, PTR and BIMI in one overview.
Security scan
A score with concrete improvements for TLS, HSTS, DNSSEC, CAA, MTA-STS and TLS-RPT.
Blacklist check
Checks against well-known DNS blacklists, including the listing reason.
How it works
- Every DNS check truly queries all 84 resolvers at once, each with its own strict timeout, so one slow server never delays your answer.
- Results appear live as they arrive. Per resolver the cache follows the record's TTL; a complete check is kept for at least 30 seconds.
- For mail, security and blacklist checks we run our own recursive resolver with DNSSEC validation, without third parties in between.
- Everything is also available through an open REST API, no account needed.
Hosted in the European Union
NetTrace runs on its own server in the EU. Your queries are processed there, not on a big cloud platform.
What we stand for
Transparent
You see each resolver's real status: ok, timeout, refused or NXDOMAIN. Our benchmark is public, including where we are not the fastest.
Privacy
No cookies, no trackers. We do not log the domains you look up and only keep truncated IP addresses, for at most 14 days.
Fast
Built and tested for speed: from a lean API to a website without heavy frameworks.
Free
All tools and the API are free, with a fair limit so the service stays fast for everyone.
